Diabetic Eye Exams

Title: The Importance of Eye Health in Diabetic Care and yearly eye exams if you are diabetic Diabetes is a chronic disease that affects millions of people worldwide. It's not only a disease that affects blood sugar levels, but it can also have serious implications for eye health. Diabetic eye disease, a group of eye problems that can affect people with diabetes, includes diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, cataracts, and glaucoma. Diabetic retinopathy is the most common cause of vision loss among people with diabetes and a leading cause of blindness among working-age adults. It occurs when high blood sugar levels cause damage to blood vessels in the retina. Diabetic macular edema is a consequence of diabetic retinopathy that causes swelling in the area of the retina called the macula. Cataracts and glaucoma are also more common in people with diabetes. Cataracts cloud the eye's lens, blocking light. Glaucoma damages the eye's optic nerve, which carries images from the eye to the brain. Regular eye check-ups are crucial for people with diabetes as early detection and treatment can prevent up to 95% of vision loss cases. The American Diabetes Association recommends that people with diabetes have a dilated eye exam at least once a year. In addition to regular eye exams, controlling blood sugar levels, blood pressure, and cholesterol can help prevent serious eye disease. If you have diabetes, it's important to manage your health carefully and pay attention to any changes in your vision. Remember, diabetes doesn't always lead to vision loss. With early detection, regular monitoring, and appropriate treatment, you can protect your eyes from serious damage.

Myopia Control

Myopia, also known as near-sightedness, is a condition where one sees near objects, but cannot see far clearly. Myopia progression has been on a significant increase with children partly through increased screen usage. Our doctors may be able to slow this progression. Schedule an evaluation to see if your child is a good candidate.

Glaucoma Evaluation

A glaucoma evaluation is a vital part of maintaining eye health. Our skilled professionals employ advanced diagnostic techniques to assess intraocular pressure, examine the optic nerve, and evaluate visual field function. Early detection is key, and our thorough evaluations enable us to identify signs of glaucoma promptly. With precise diagnostics and personalized care plans, we aim to preserve your vision and support your overall eye wellness. Schedule your glaucoma evaluation today for proactive eye care and peace of mind.
