Our Services

Cataracts

As you get older, your risk for eye diseases, like cataracts, increases. This is why it’s important for all adults to schedule annual eye exams after they turn 40. Cataracts often develop with no symptoms and most people don’t know they have a problem until their vision is blurry. Minton Eye Care checks for early signs of cataracts during every eye exam so the problem can be caught early and treated before any vision loss starts.

Comprehensive Eye Exams

Every member of your family should get regular comprehensive eye exams by an optometrist like Dr. Jason Minton. Having your eyes checked every two years (or more often if you have vision problems or a family history of eye disease) allows Dr. Minton to track small changes over time, which will make it easier to diagnose and treat problems early. Eye exams also check your vision to determine if you need glasses or contact lenses.

Contact Lens Exams

People of all ages use contact lenses to improve their vision. Minton Eye Care offers contact lens exams, which allow Dr. Minton to determine your prescription, as well as the best contact lens type, modality, and brand to give you clear vision with a comfortable fit. For first time contact lens users, Dr. Minton will also teach you to put your lenses in, take them out, and how to care for your new contact lenses.

Dry Eye Treatment

Chronic dry eye can be an uncomfortable and sometimes painful condition. If you are concerned about dry eyes and symptoms like burning, itchy, irritated, or red eyes, schedule an eye exam at Minton Eye Care. Dr. Minton will look for the cause of the problem to determine the best treatment plan for each patient. Minton Eye Care offers the latest treatments for dry eye, including Lipiflow.

Eye Emergencies (Pink/Red Eyes)

If you or a member of your family has an eye trauma or symptoms of an eye infection (red eyes, excessive tearing, light sensitivity, or crusty discharge), contact Minton Eye Care to schedule an emergency appointment. With years of experience in eye care, Dr. Minton can quickly determine the source of the problem and recommend the best treatment option.

Geriatric Eye Care

In older adults, it’s important to schedule regular eye exams since the risk of many eye diseases (like cataracts and glaucoma) increase with age. During a comprehensive eye exam at Minton Eye Care, Dr. Minton checks for early signs of eye disease so treatment can be started before any vision loss. If you are 65 years or older, schedule an annual exam to preserve your eye health.

Glaucoma

One of the most common eye diseases in patients over 40 years old, glaucoma is often known as the silent thief of sight since it has very few early symptoms. Glaucoma creates pressure in the eye and some people don’t know they have it until they start to lose their vision. Minton Eye Care checks every adult patient for glaucoma during routine eye exams so it can be diagnosed and treated early.

Pediatric Eye Care

Along with standard check-ups at the pediatrician, parents should visit an optometrist so the development of their child’s visual health can be checked. An optometrist like Dr. Jason Minton is trained to look for signs of vision problems in children before they can even communicate. Minton Eye Care recommends children get their first eye exam at six months old with follow-ups when the child is two or three years old. Regular vision screenings are also important for school age children to make sure their learning isn’t being affected by eye trouble.

Lipiflow Dry Eye Treatment

One cause of chronic dry eye is Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD). With MGD, the oil glands of the eyelids may be blocked or not functioning properly. At Minton Eye Care, Dr. Jason Minton is trained to administer Lipiflow, a state-of-the-art treatment for dry eye caused by MGD. Lipiflow is performed in the office and the treatment heats up the oil glands of the eyelid, then massages the glands to clean out any blocks.
