Our Services

Comprehensive
Eye Exams

Optometric Consulting Services recommends comprehensive eye examinations for all adults to check for early signs of eye disease (cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration). Patients with a family history of eye disease are at higher risk and should schedule eye exams at least once a year. Patients who need vision correction (glasses or contact lenses) usually need to have their eyes checked and their prescription renewed once a year. Adults who don’t have vision problems or a high risk of eye disease can schedule eye exams once every two years.

Contact Lens
Exams

Many patients at Optometric Consulting Services enjoy the benefits of wearing contact lenses to correct their vision. If you are a long-time contact user or you are looking to try them for the first time, our optometrists will perform a thorough contact lens exam to determine your prescription as well as the most comfortable fit. The doctor can also help first time users learn to put their lenses in, take them out, and take proper care of their contact lenses. Optometric Consulting Services offers a wide range of contact lens brands, modalities, and types to ensure each patient gets their best result.

Pediatric Eye Care

Your child’s early development is important, so Optometric Consulting Services recommends that children get their first eye exam at six months old to check their visual health. An optometrist may ask if your child has any signs of a problem (squinting, excessive blinking, covering or rubbing their eyes a lot). Follow-up exams should be scheduled around 2-3 years old if there are no problems at their initial appointment. School-age children should also be screened regularly for vision problems.

Geriatric
Eye Care

The risk of eye diseases (cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration) increases with age. Optometric Consulting Services takes special care with patients over 65 years old to look for early signs of eye disease and recommend treatment that preserves vision.

Primary Care

For your entire family, it’s important to have a regular optometrist as part of your health care plan. In addition to screening for vision problems and eye disease, you’ll want to have an optometrist you can trust in the event of an eye emergency (scratched lens, foreign objects in the eye, pink eye, etc.) Optometric Consulting Services offers multiple locations and eye care for the entire family.

Cataracts

The most common cause of vision loss in adults over 45 is cataracts. Normally slow to develop and painless, regular eye exams can detect cataracts before the vision starts to get cloudy and blurry. Optometric Consulting Services recommends eye exams to check for cataracts at least once every two years for all adults.

Glaucoma

Getting regular eye exams may protect you from glaucoma-related vision loss, which is the number one cause of irreversible blindness. Glaucoma creates pressure in the eye — the first symptom is usually tunnel vision or reduced peripheral vision. During regular eye exams, the optometrists at Optometric Consulting Services check for early signs of glaucoma so we can start treatment before vision problems begin.
