Our Services

Comprehensive Eye Exams

Every adult should get a comprehensive eye exam at least every 2 years. And depending on your family history of eye disease, more frequent visits are recommended (once or twice a year.) Our top-of-the-line equipment can reliably detect cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and Plaquenil ocular toxicity before they progress beyond treatable bounds.

Contact Lens Exams

Whether you’re new to contacts or an everyday wearer, our contact lens exams ensure your new lenses fit, your prescription is accurate, and they’re comfortable to wear.

Pediatric Eye Care

We recommend that children get eye exams as early as 6 months old. Staying ahead of your child’s eye development is crucial because their formative years are the best time to remedy any irregularities. Schedule a pediatric eye exam if your child is experiencing any of the following vision-related symptoms: • Eye rubbing • Excessive blinking • Squinting • Covering one eye when trying to focus • Headaches

Geriatric Eye Care

Seniors 65 and up should get a comprehensive eye exam at least once a year. Past this age, eye tissue and structure change much faster, so staying on top of your eye health should be prioritized.

Eye Emergencies

Call our office immediately for an emergency visit if you’ve suffered an eye injury or a sudden vision change. We commonly treat pink or red eye but can assist with most urgent eye care needs.

Dry Eye Treatments

Are dry eyes causing your visual impairment and discomfort? Call us today to schedule a dry eye consultation. We’ll provide the personalized treatment you need to alleviate your symptoms.

Eye Disease Evaluations

Visionsmith Eye Care’s state-of-the-art eye equipment can detect and help diagnose various eye diseases.

  • Cataracts

    • Cataracts is the most common eye disease in people over 40. They occur when your eye’s lens becomes clouded. Symptoms may only appear once cataracts are far along, so frequent eye exams with your optometrist are the quickest way to identify early indicators.

  • Glaucoma

    • Glaucoma occurs when pressure inside the eye causes damage to the optic nerve. It’s another common eye disease in people over 40.

  • Plaquenil Ocular Toxicity

    • The medication Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) can potentially cause retinal toxicity. If you’re taking it, we recommend an optometrist evaluation for ocular toxicity because effective treatment depends on swift detection. If left undetected, it can result in peripheral vision loss, visual acuity degradation, and night vision loss.

  • Diabetic Retinopathy (Diabetic Eye Disease)

    • A retinal disease caused by diabetes. Early stages of diabetic retinopathy are marked by weakened blood vessels in each eye, causing blurry vision and even legal blindness.

  • Macular Degeneration

    • Macular Degeneration causes central vision loss due to damaged retinas. There are two forms of Macular Degeneration: atrophic (dry) and exudative (wet). Detection and treatment options vary from person to person and between each type.
